This Friday was a warm summers evening and there were plenty of judo players preparing for Sundays competition, very hot and sweaty in the dojo… Good luck to those who are fighting for the Meiji.org.uk Judokwai club at Castle Vale Leisure Centre. We will post the results, video and pictures here.

pbelt_07_07_06Congratulations to the three purple belt winners this Friday evening. Katherine Hogg chose two of them and Sensei one. Katherine’s choice was the two relatively newcomers, Joseph Balderstone and Alex Hunter, their understanding of the Japanese to English translation of the syllabus phrases was excellent, well done guys!

Sensei’s choice was Cam Hoskins. Sensei was pleased with the way that Cam’s Judo has suddenly improved he seems to be more committed now that he is well after his recent swollen lip incident. Well done Cam!

Well done to everyone else, a good turnout this Friday!

Don’t forget its a team competition next Sunday 16th July 2006, Castle Vale, 9:15am weigh in. Come along and support Meiji.org.uk.

Purple Belt Winners Friday 12th May 2006

Posted in Purple Belt by thw on May 12th, 2006

pbelt_12_05_06It was a difficult choice tonight for Sensei, all players made an effort. It was good to see everyone enjoying themselves and also putting the effort in.

The more effort you put in the better the Judo, remember to have fun but at the end of the day Judo is practiced to win competitions.

The players in the picture include long standing member Joshua Lowe (left) and newcomer Joseph Nugent (right).

Well done guys keep it up. Don’t forget to check Sensei’s comments.

If you are new to Meiji Judokwai Judo or this website; the purple belt is the special award that is awarded to the best Judo player of the night. There are two sets of purple belts two for the Wednesday club (Burntwood Leisure Centre) and two for the Friday club (Hayes Green Community Centre). Each winning player gets to keep the belt until the next weeks session, but is able to proudly wear it on the training day between.

Riley & Will Are Purple Belters

pbelt10_05_06This Wednesday Riley Hall-Woodcock and William Dewsbury were awarded the purple achievements belts.

Riley’s comment was “I don’t want my picture on the website”, even though he has been asking for the last couple of weeks “why have I not won the purple belt”, looking at the website with a sigh…. And Will hopefully your new girlfriend will approve of your pose (thanks to Dave for the tip-off lol).

Seriously though - well done guys, its an important motivator and you should be proud that Sensei recognises your worth. Keep it up…

Who is up for Fridays belt? Check back Friday and see.

Purple Belt Award 5-5-06Sensei was really pleased with the effort tonight, but the two students that stood out and put the most effort in were Jake Edwards and Tom Walker.

The picture from left to right: Joshua Mellor (winner last Friday) he desperately wanted his picture on the website…, Sensei Stewart Hogg, Jake Edwards and Tom Walker.

Keep up the good work guys, Sensei reminded us this evening the student with the most purple belts at the end of the year will be presented with a special achievement award - so get to it.

Don’t forget your picture will be here on the website for all your family and friends to see if you put the effort in.
